In a Nov 12, 2007 "Letter to the Editor" in our local newspaper
(Harrisburg, PA), a lady made the following assertions (I'm
paraphrasing a bit but not much): 1.) We don't have proof that the
world is round. 2.) How do we know that the photos from outer space
of the earth aren't fakes? 3.) It is all propaganda of the liberal
media! 4.) If the earth was round then we would need curved lumber
to build our houses. 5.) Pres. Bush should support a commission that
would build a big wand that would extend from the earth out and take
a "real" picture of the earth. 6.) Teaching our kids that the earth
is round is "junk science" and they need to understand that as part
of God's master plan, it is flat......
To date, I haven't seen a rebuttal.
