I put the front wheel back on after changing the tire. Everything looked right and the
wheel spun nicely. That is, until I torqued the axle nut down. Then the wheel only spun if
you pushed it, stopping immediately once force was removed.
I took the wheel off and looked inside the speedometer takeoff. Inside is a two-flanged
washer (part #41064-1051) that mates with two slots in the wheel's hub. On mine the
two flanges were bent in.
The tricky part when putting the wheel back on is that you can't "feel" whether the
flanges are in the slots or not. Mine weren't. They hit the hub in the wrong spot and
dragged on the wheel.
It's a cheap part and easily replaced. But be careful lining up the flanges and slots, and
you'll never have to buy one.
