Haven't calibrated my American KLR speedo to GPS. But in comparison to a Honda SuperHawk (up to 20% error near as we can guess it), it's way closer to reality... VFR is fairly close to reality (probably 5% error) and if I could keep up with him on the straights, then maybe I'd know... but when we meet up for lunch, we've got approximately the same trip mileage. Compared to my CBR, I'd say it's got around the same amount of error. But the one true way to know is by GPS. I ride with GPS all the time. The error is about 4-5mph (7-8kph) at nearly all speeds on my US A12. I would have thought it would be a "gain" error more than an "offset" error, but no. Steve A.

I'm not trying to knock any online map services, but make sure you compare their directions with an atlas or something...a lot of times I've gotten directions online that aren't 100% the best route. Other times, they've been great...a good tool but don't throw the maps away yet!
