Can anyone tell me if they have had their B9 Robot Appraised and or whom would you go?  Also, Insurance, I was to by my insurance (property) that unless I have a written value, it would be difficult to insure not as General.  Thanks Sandy

I have similar situations.
I had to get an appraisal for an antique car one time. I found an antique car dealer that was able to do appraisals for them.
So, I would suggest contacting your local antique and collector stores to see if they are able give you a written appraisal for your robot.
Then again, I have some antique and collectible items.  My insurance company only wanted a rider that has me list the items and what I declare their value to be.
The same with the antique car.  I declare the value.  So, the more I declare the value, the more they will pay in the event of a loss.  But, the more I declare, the higher my premiums.
Insurance all works the same.  The more chance of a loss, the more you pay.  The higher the value of the item, the more you pay.  Many insurance companies will gladly charge you for anything.
So, talk to your insurance agent and tell them the situation, that you have a collectible, full sized robot that you would like to insure for $xxxxx.  They'll find a way to accommodate you.

LOL Thank you Jeff. It's hard . I was reading on Collection Appraisers and read comments that they may not always be the right people to go to because they don't have B9 Robots to look at everyday, IF EVER and would lack the experience. But I guess it's a start...... Sandy

The processes is that they look for something that is available commercially and base it against that. So Mike Joyce sold his robots for $25,000. That is your cost basis of commercial product that will be comparable.  now take that and if yours is mobile and talks and does anything other than what Mike Joyce's robot does you will have to document and provide sound files, video files and actual expenses used to make your robot and justify any additional costs that make up the difference between a $25,000 commercial version and your version. You always want to ensure for a replacement cost version not a age depreciation version.

I had to get an appraisal for an antique car one time. I found an antique car dealer that was able to do appraisals for them.
So, I would suggest contacting your local antique and collector stores to see if they are able give you a written appraisal for your robot.
Then again, I have some antique and collectible items.  My insurance company only wanted a rider that has me list the items and what I declare their value to be.
The same with the antique car.  I declare the value.  So, the more I declare the value, the more they will pay in the event of a loss.  But, the more I declare, the higher my premiums.
Insurance all works the same.  The more chance of a loss, the more you pay.  The higher the value of the item, the more you pay.  Many insurance companies will gladly charge you for anything.
So, talk to your insurance agent and tell them the situation, that you have a collectible, full sized robot that you would like to insure for $xxxxx.  They'll find a way to accommodate you.
